Even though he doesn’t like to talk about himat all, ‘quelle horreur!’, he says, I’ll try to do it myself. Olivier is fresh out of ETPA (Toulouse’s school of photography), earning, at the end of his curriculum, the ‘Grand Prix’ for 2009. His work is bred by boredom, which makes him regulary change his path, either in the shape or the substance. Yet there is a red line: that dreamlike eye, that makes the series follow one another without similarity.

Olivier began through ‘standard’ portraits, opening himself bit by bit to a work on the body and its expression. I was in his back, advising him to develop a field where the photographies wouldn’t favour the model, yet would exist in themselves. He, todays, says this helped him to focus his eye on a more creative work. ‘I try to maintain some kind of tension. I want the image to be beautiful, but with a draft of defect, anyway, this is what I am trying to make, for the onlooker to enter in this underlying fault.’ He says.

__what they say

’Olivier is a young photographer from France who's seductive images evokes the voyeur in all of us. He creates the illusion that you are sitting in, on each models most intimate moments. His ability to command light and shadow is powerful, dominant and alluring.’ Robbeyond, Trystate Magazine

Sacha Pavan
